I would like to thank everyone who voted for me in Bristol North West, and also to express my sincere gratitude to the hundreds of people who helped in my campaign.

Overall it was not enough, sadly!

The Lib Dem vote share was up 6.6% on 2005 - but in the end we could not bring across enough Labour voters to make the difference.

The overall result was:

Conservative - 19 115

Liberal Democrat - 15 841

Labour - 13 059

I would like to congratulate Charlotte Leslie on her election. She campaigned extremely hard and very effectively. I wish her well in Parliament, where I am sure she will serve her new constituents with distinction.
