Huge Government funding cuts in further education mean that the City of Bristol College's centre in Lawrence Weston will now close.
This will mean that a key community in our city is cut off from further education provision.
"This is a disaster for Lawrence Weston and the surrounding area" said Paul Harrod.
"Many students now face a long journey into Bishopston to continue their courses - which will require at least one change of bus.
"The Government is choosing to focus its early cuts in public spending on some of the people who need help the most. Supporting young adults with vocational skills and qualifications is vital -especially in times of a recession.
"I want to know why the Government has cut the College's funding so drastically. I am working with the Council to ensure that the building is kept in community use, devoted to education and training."
