Airbus investment is good news for Bristol

It is excellent news that Airbus UK has won the argument for further investment in next-generation aircraft design and manufacture here in Bristol.
It is so important that the environmental impact of air travel is reduced significantly, and the race to develop these solutions is a global one. We can not afford to be left behind.
The future for the aerospace industry is not only in the advanced composite materials which will make lighter and more fuel efficient aircraft, but also in the 'spin offs' into other sectors, such as renewable energy.
Next year we will celebrate 100 years since the founding of the forerunner to the Bristol Aeroplane Company, which has led to a century of aerospace and advanced engineering in Bristol. I am sure the industry is looking forward to its next hundred years in Bristol, and we all benefit from the investment and innovations still to come.
